Philosophy

Northdale Christian Academy’s Preschool Program is dedicated to providing excellence in education for all its students. Our licensed teachers are committed to achieving this excellence by maintaining developmentally appropriate practices; a safe, nurturing environment; and proactive home-school communication. We focus on all areas of education for a young child: spiritual, social/emotional, cognitive, and physical. We want each child to know that they are a valued member of our academy family and they are loved, cared for, and taught the truth of God’s Word everyday.

Curriculum

We use the High/Scope curriculum to fulfill the Florida state standards for 3-5 yr olds. This play-based program allows the flexibility children need to develop at their own individual level. Learning through play has been found to be the most effective way for young children to learn. Through a combination of hands-on exploration and teacher-guided activities, they will develop skills needed for reading and math in kindergarten, but also classroom skills that will set them up for success such as taking turns, asking questions, problem-solving and so much more! We also have a Bible story curriculum that teaches children the many wonderful truths of the Bible at their level.

Teacher credentials/student teacher ratio

Our friendly and caring staff are state-certified and CPR/First Aid trained. Our classroom is a multi-age classroom of 3 yr olds (3K) and 4/5 yr olds (VPK) of up to 20 students with a lead teacher and an aide. We know that all children are unique and this approach allows each child to participate in activities at their own level. A multi-age classroom allows children to work on more advanced concepts if they are ready, or practice other things that they might need more time with. It also gives the older children a sense of leadership and confidence when helping younger students who are new to the class.
